Paper Tigers
This refers to M Ashraf's Kashmir's Paper Tigers. Powerful write-up and a perfect reflection of some brutal truths of our land, rather the people of land. But I have a submission. You have presented your views about the new generation not craving for publicity. With utmost regret, I have no choice but to admit that 'selling the Kashmir sentiment' is going on mercilessly. It is used by our young Kashmiris to start their journey from obscurity to limelight. They face the identity crisis same way the senior 'stakeholders' of Kashmir face it. Here in New Delhi, Kashmiri students, across various university campuses are playing filthy politics in the name of Kashmir. Groups are formed and dissolved every now and then. Consensus is lacking. Everyone wants to rule the roost. Everyone wants to be a leader, unopposed. A bunch of students are giving as many versions of the Kashmir issue as is their number. Someone is trying his hand at carving out an award-winning novel for himself out of this traumatic situation. They feel when Basharat Peer can do it, why can't we! Here people have starting noticing our 'commercial brains'. They witness, how we the so-called budding and blooming minds of Kashmir are motivated by individual interests and not a collective motive. Our hot-debating of the Kashmir Conflict is gradually growing cold.
