18000 Candidates To Compete For 65 Posts

Jammu, Aug 3: Around 18000 aspirants will be competing for 65 posts of Combined Services, the examination of which would be held in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar on Sunday.
Official sources said that the Public Service Commission will be holding Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination 2012 on Sunday. At least 29 examination centers, 11 in Srinagar and 18 in Jammu, have been set up to conduct one of the most prestigious examinations in the state.
“Around 18000 candidates have applied this year and all of them are expected to appear in the examination to be conducted in two shifts on Sunday”, Secretary JKPSC Dr Ashok Kumar told Greater Kashmir.
He said that beside General Studies, the students will be appearing in the optional subject examination to be conducted in the second shift. “The students have opted optional subjects among 22 subjects prescribed by the Commission,” Dr Kumar said.
He said that all the preparations for the smooth conduct of the examination have been finalized.
Meanwhile, on the recommendation of the Commission, General Administrative Department today appointed 29 KAS officers as Observers for various examination centers.
