Geelani, others arrested

Srinagar, Aug 3: Police on Friday arrested the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his associates at Hyderpora here when he tried to move towards Shopian.
A spokesman of the conglomerate told Greater Kashmir that Geelani and his associates were taken to Humhama Police Station and were lodged there. “Geelani Sahib wanted to visit south Kashmir's Shopian town to express solidarity with the bereaved family of Aqib Ahmed who was beaten to death by the CRPF personnel earlier this week,” he said.
