PDP is enemy no 1: Kamal
Jammu, Aug 5: Additional General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal today termed opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “enemy No 1 of the people”.
“In the brief period of less than three years from 2000 to 2005, when PDP was in power, the state got only misrule of the worst kind, corruption taking the J&K state on No 2 position after Bihar in the country, sex scandal, forest scam, Amarnath land row, weakening of democratic institution and the killing of scores of innocent people”, Kamal said addressing workers in Mansar of Udhampur district today.
He said that National Conference has been at the forefront in espousing the cause of the people and has worked tirelessly for their emancipation with success with its leaders suffering long imprisonments, trials and tribulations.
He expressed his dismay at the lack of development and essentials of life like electricity, roads, dispensary , degree college as a result of neglect by the local MLA for the last two decades .
Speaking on the occasion, Rattan Lal Gupta said that Panchayat Raj institutions are now in the hands of the people of the village level with 14 major departments coming under their direct command.
He said once the block development council is in place they shall be in a position to spend Rs 30-40 crore per year per block which will change the face of the rural people and their economy.
