Kulgam traders offer special discount on food items
Kulgam, Aug 7: The rates for different essential commodities were finalized at a meeting of Price Control Committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mir Jahangir here today.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, DSP Headquarter, Tehsildars, Assistant Director, CA&PD and Executive Officers of Municipal Committees besides representatives of traders attended the meeting.
In view of ensuing holy days and festivals, the Traders Federation, Kulgam voluntarily offered to reduce mutton and chicken rates following effective persuasion by the Deputy Commissioner, an official statement said. Accordingly Rs 5 per Kg discount was announced by wholesale mutton dealers on meat. This concession shall hold good upto Eid-ul-Fiter.
Likewise, Rs.2 shall be concession on broilers per kg. The retail rates for milk, curd and cheese will respectively be Rs.25, Rs 27 and Rs.120 per Kg.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensifying market checking operation across markets and towns in the District. Relevantly, the joint teams comprising Assistant Director CAPD, concerned SHO and Executive Officers of Municipal Committees led by the concerned Tehsildars stand already constituted to keep eye on the markets.
