Srinagar, Aug 8: Police have arrested two persons, including a Sarpanch reportedly associated with National Conference, in connection with the murder of a youth in Sendhbal Ganderbal.
“After registering the case FIR No. 24/1012, police have so far arrested two persons involved in the murder while the hunt is on for arrest of the main accused who has been identified. Police is investigating the case vigorously and have raided a number of places. The raids have been successful and two accused persons- Ali Muhammad Sheikh son Assadullah and Muhammad Subhan Wani son of Ali Muhammad have been arrested. The latter is the Sarpanch of Sendhbal,” a police spokesman said.
In a statement, Inspector General of Police S M Sahai said that law will take its own course in the case. The IGP said that besides expediting the investigation of the murder, police will continue to take all necessary measures for maintaining calm in the area.
Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat was killed in an attack at the local Masjid at Sendhbal on August 6.
