JK water, gas pipeline: Meeting reviews draft

Srinagar, Aug 8: The Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today chaired a high level meeting to review “the draft prepared for laying of J&K Water and Gas Pipelines and rights of user in land to be acquired” here today.
Minister of State for Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani was present on the occasion.
Commissioner-Secretary, Revenue, B. A. Rounyal, Financial Commissioner Revenue, K.B Aggrwal, Commissioner-Secretary Law, G. H. Tantary, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pardeep Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, and representatives of the Gujrat State Petronet Ltd and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Earlier, the officials of the company, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) through power point presentation highlighted importance of the Rs 880 crore Gas Pipe line project from Gujarat to Jammu and Kashmir State and its benefits to the people of the State, an official statement said.
The meeting was informed that the project has to be completed in 36 months while the survey of the said project has already been completed.
The meeting was also informed that on completion of the project it will not only bring cheers on the faces of the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly the people of valley who due to chilly winter season and the closure of lone road link during the winter months face a lot of difficulties. The meeting was informed that the project will provide Gas connectivity to Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Ramban, Islamabad (Anantnag) and Srinagar.
It was also said that the Natural Gas pipeline will attract investments in the vicinity of the pipeline which will help in the overall economic growth of the State.
The gas connectivity will also help in developing of our Industries, which in turn create job opportunities for the local people. This will also help to develop CNG corridors along Railway, National Highways that would fuel economic growth of the State.
