Resolution of K-issue must for peace in subcontinent: Shah
Srinagar, Nov 30: Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday said the Kashmir issue has to be resolved as per aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
“Peace will continue to elude the subcontinent until the Kashmir issue remains unresolved. Kashmir has been a major cause of confrontation between the two nuclear neighbouring countries. They have fought several wars on this issue. It is an issue of the right to self determination for the people of Kashmir that has to be given to them,” Shah said while addressing a large gathering at Watergam Chowk in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
Shah was accompanied by separatist leaders including Javaid Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash.
“The government of India has tried every tactics to suppress the freedom movement of Kashmir people but have failed in every respect,” he said.
Shah warned New Delhi against hanging of Afzal Guru, saying that it could have serious consequences.
