Untoo for probe into human rights violations
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 9: Chairman of Internal Forum for Justice Muhammad Ahsan Untoo has urged international rights groups to take note of human rights violations taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his statement on the eve of world human rights day, Untoo said international organizations and justice-loving persons should hold an independent inquiry into cases of conviction of Kashmiris who were ‘falsely implicated’ by different agencies.
“A team comprising of retired judges, jurists and human rights activists should be constituted to bring truth to fore about these cases,” Untoo added. Untoo claimed that 41, 357 Kashmiris were sentenced to imprisonment of varying periods since 90s.
“Among them 2524 were children and 113 women,” he said. He said that 2755 Kashmiris were sentenced to imprisonment period of 10-17 years.
