Srinagar, Dec 11: The State Accountability Commission (SAC) Tuesday directed Estates Department to come up with the details of illegal occupants of government accommodations including at least eleven former legislators and ministers.
 The directions were issued by the Commission, Comprising Justice YP Nargotra (retd) Chairperson and Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain (retd) Member, in a complaint filed by against Ex-Ministers, who were allegedly occupying government accommodations without any authorization.
 The Commission, after going through the report submitted by the Director Estates, observed that it was not clear as “if the respondents” and the persons named in the report were authorized to occupy the government accommodation even after they seized to be the ministers.
 “Director Estate has not specifically in his report dealt with the question as to the entitlement of the ex-ministers to hold and occupy the government accommodation after having ceased to be the minister”, the Commission observed, while directing the Department to file detailed report in this regard by the next date of hearing fixed for December 20.
 The query pertains to former Minister for Agriculture, Abdul Aziz Zagar; former Minister for Social Welfare, Haji Nissar Ali; former Minister for Rural Development, Mula Ram;  former Minister of State (MOS) for Youth Services ,Yogesh Sawhney; former MOS  for PHE Romesh Sharma,  former MOS  for Housing and Urban Development Department  Gharu Ram and former MOS  Health, Peer Muhammad Hussain.
 Apart from seven former ministers, the Commission has also sought details of the government accommodations allegedly occupied by four other politicians including a former Member Parliament and a former Chairman of Legislative Council.
  It asked the department to explain as if the politicians were occupying the accommodation and “If yes, whether they are entitled to the same and whether any rent on account of such occupation is outstanding?,”
 The Commission also asked the Estates Department  to explain as if there were any rules or guidelines framed by government  for allowing a person to use government accommodation.
