GOVT IN FIX OVER CONDUCT OF BUDGET SESSION
Jammu, Dec 11: Government is in a fix as for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir the annual budget session of state legislature, will not be held in the Legislative Assembly complex Jammu as the building has been declared unsafe.
Talking to media persons about the safety of LA complex’s structure, which suffered extensive damage Tuesday, Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone said that apparently the building was not safe and it was not advisable to hold upcoming budget session in the existing complex.
“We have space available in the park of secretariat or we can use some other space to shift the assembly secretariat till the new complex is ready for use. We are exploring different sites for this purpose” Lone said and expressed hope that within a month time government would be able to create some alternate space for assembly secretariat.
Assuring to hold a full fledge budget session, the Speaker said that there would be no curtailment in the budget session’s schedule. “We are contemplating to raise some alternate building or some structure for shifting of assembly secretariat”.
Earlier, Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone hurriedly conveyed a meeting of officers and ministers to discuss the situation.
