Srinagar, Dec 11: Pulling up Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara and Block Development Officer Ramhall for delay in disposing of first appeal and RTI application respectively, Information Commissioner (IC), Nazir Ahmad on Tuesday served the notice to the duo asking them to show cause as to why action should not be initiated against them for their laxity.
In his order, the IC asked BDO Ramhall to explain as to why penalty shall not be imposed on him for delay in disposing of the RTI application that was submitted by an applicant Bilal Ahmad Wani on December 10 last year.
“Explanation of BDO should reach the Commission within three weeks from issue of this order. In case the officer during pendency of the RTI application has been transferred, incumbent BDO is directed to deliver the notice to him on his present place of posting under intimation to the Commission,” the order reads.
The Commission also served notice to First Appellate Authority (ACD Kupwara) asking him to explain “as to why action under the RTI Act shall not be initiated against him for failure to adjudicate first appeal within the prescribed period as required under section 16(7) of the Act”.
Pertinently, the applicant had sought information about plans of different schemes as well as beneficiaries of Indira Awas Yojana in his native area.
