Schools Need To Play Bigger Role In Development Of Sports: Taffazul
Srinagar, Dec 11: As part of its efforts to develop and encourage the grassroots level sports activities, the J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) on Tuesday felicitated four city based instates at a felicitation ceremony held at Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Elahi Bagh, here.
In the ceremony JKSDA felicitated hosts, Green Valley, RP School, Galaxy Public School and Kashmir Harvard Institute for the role in the development of Sports in the Valley.
JK Bank Expectative President and Chairman Sports Board, Taffazul Hussain was chief guest on the occasion while as Director Magpie Hydel Constructions Pvt Ltd and Olympian Mir Mudasir, International football coach Sajid Yousuf Dar, Ex General Secretary JKFA Bashir Ahmad Malik, Secretary General International Sqay Council Mir Nazir, GVEI Chairman M Yousuf Wani and other were guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Taffazul Hussain lauded the efforts of JKSDA for its role in the development of sports and encouragement of sports persons.
“JKSDA is doing commendable job and I lucky to be part of their all the major activities. The events which JKSDA has organised till now including Run For Old City, Tour-de-Kashmir and Srinagar Marathon are successful events. In absence of Government funded associations, it is JKSDA that is doing the job of developing sports in the State,” Taffazul said.
Mir Mudasir while sharing experience with the students said, “If we have to develop sports than we need to work from grassroots level. Big events only help us to make people aware about particular sports but it is schools that have to work and develop sports at grassroots level” he said.
Giving details about the event, JKSDA Organising Secretary, Reyaz Wani said, “JKSDA came into existence in 2009 and since then it has organised number of events. This year we organised, Spring Champions Run, Run for Old City, Kashmir Cycling Challenge, Tour-de-Kashmir, Srinagar marathon, sports awards and now this felicitation ceremony of institutes”.
Taffazul Hussain is JKSDA patron
JK Bank Executive President and Sports Board Chairman has been made Patron of J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA).
The announcement in this connection was made during felicitation ceremony of institutes organised by JKSDA at Green Valley Educational Institute here on Tuesday.
The JKSDA Vce-President Sajid Yousuf Dar on behalfd of JKSDa requested Taffazul Hussain to be its Patron which later readily acce4pted.
“I am honoured that JKSDA chose me its patron. I will try my best to help JKSDA achieve the goals that it has set for the overall development of sports in the State,” Taffazul said.
