Tara Chand reviews Master Plan revamp
Srinagar, Dec 12: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand Wednesday asked the Srinagar Development Authority to ensure that “micro and macro mapping” of the City is done as a part of the ongoing Master Plan revamp.
“The Deputy Chief Minister exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure micro and macro mapping of entire 416 Sq Kms of existing Srinagar local area and expansion of Master Plan for further 310 sq Km in order to make the proposed master plan as one of the visionary and ideal master plan document,” an official handout said adding that minister was accompanied by Commissioner, Housing and Urban Development Department(H&UDD), Jeet Lal Gupta while other senior officials including Vice-Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Khawaja Farooq Renzushah were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister said: “The revision of Master Plan both for Jammu and Srinagar is simultaneously taking place for which consultants have been put on the job to point out all discrepancies, which are existing on ground so that proper and effective measures shall be taken to accommodate the remedial measures.”
He said that with the expansion of both cities, the vision of making greater Srinagar and greater Jammu cities shall be realized. The Dy CM said that Master Plan shall take care not only for short period but provision shall be made for long term so that when new Master Plan is formulated in 2020 all existing developmental infrastructure be utilised for further expansion of the City.
Tara Chand said that Master Plan shall take care of needs of the common man and also ensure proper adherence to all legislative acts, regulations to add provision of the various existing laws. He was informed by Vice-Chairman SDA that proposed master plan is being formulated by concerned experts besides genuine views and suggestions are being taken into consideration. He said that proper sub zoning of the Srinagar City for purpose of making comprehensive master plan zone is also in progress.
Renzu said “with regard to railway tracks, mega roads, express highways, decongestion of Sheher-i-Khas identified as layer Ist is taken into consideration”.
The Zonal plan shall ensure eco-friendly system and creation of further tourist infrastructure, he added.
Among others Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr GN Qasba, Managing Director Housing Board, Kiran Wattal and Chief Town Planner, Ifthikhar Hussain participated in review of the Master Plan.
