JKPCC Baramulla headless; Scores of projects suffer
ALTAF BABA
Baramulla, Dec 16: Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation, unit 8, Baramulla is headless for past several years affecting scores of projects in the twin districts of Baramulla and Bandipora.
According to sources, the JKPCC unit 8 responsible for the execution of various developmental projects in North Kashmir's Baramulla and Bandipora districts is without Deputy General Manager (DGM) for past four years. The Deputy General Manager, Kupwara, unit 10, is manning the post in his additional charge.
"Absence of full-fledged Deputy General Manager for Unit 8 is badly affecting the overall functioning of the corporation," said a contractor pleading anonymity.
According to sources, JKPCC has taken scores of mega projects in Baramulla and Bandipora districts including district hospital Baramulla, some vital bridges and colleges. “However, in the absence of the head of the corporation in Baramulla and Bandipora districts, the projects are not showing desired progress.
"There are scores of projects underway in North Kashmir. How can a single official holding two posts can do justice with his assignments. This unethical practice of giving additional charges is telling upon the developmental activities in the twin districts," an official wishing not to be named said.
When contacted, General Manager, JKPCC, Kashmir, Muhammad Sultan said that five Deputy General Managers had been inducted in the corporation. “We hope the post of DGM for unit 8 will be filled soon," he said.
