Traders flay Sales Tax deptt

Srinagar, Dec 17: The recently formed Joint Traders’ Coordination Committee today criticized a Sales Tax notice that according to it “warns of penal action against assumed lapses by the traders.”
The members flayed the Sales Tax Department for issuing the notice and resolved to fight “any move aimed at harassing the traders.”
The members at a meeting here today refuted the reports that said that some representatives of traders had met the officials to get some breathing time. “The fact is that the KTMF, which is the supreme body of the traders, had met the Sales Tax officials to debate on the proposed GST.
Meanwhile, the members urged the KTMF “to give its views on the notice which has shaken the business community already facing hardships due to prevailing situation.”
