Services inflicts 5 wkt drubbing on JK
Srinagar, Dec 18: Services on Monday inflicted five wicket drubbing on the JK Ranji trophy team in the four day Ranji trophy match at Palam A Ground, Model Sports Complex, Delhi.
Resuming fourth days play on 71 for the loss of four wickets Services lost only one more wicket in achieving the target of 133 runs to win match. They batsman who got out was Yashpal Singh for the score of 61 runs. He lost his wicket only three runs away from the victory. The other overnight not out batsman RS Paliwal remained unbeaten on 47. For JK only wicket of the day was taken by Waseem Raza.
Earlier in its first inning JK had were bundled out for 85 runs and in reply Services scored 221 runs in their first inning. They had got first inning lead of 136 runs. In its second inning JK put on respectable batting show by scoring 269 runs. But first inning paltry show cost them as Services had to get only 133 runs to win owing to their first inning lead.
With this loss the resurgence of JK has been halted as they had won their last two matches in the event. The bowling did well but it was first batting show that cost JK match. In second inning again the top order failed and it was only due to fightback from lower order that they were able to stretch match to last day. From the match Services earned full six points while JK got nil.
After having played six matches in the event, JK is now placed at number fifth place in the points table of group-c, comprising of nine teams. They have so far won two matches, lost three and drew one. The team will play their seventh match on December 22 against Himachal Pradesh at GGM Science College ground Jammu.
