State football championship from Monday
Srinagar, Dec 18: The J&K Football Association is going to organise State football championship at two separate venues of Jammu from Monday.
The event will see top 40 teams that will include departmental teams, district and private clubs participating against each other.
The matches would be played on two venues of GGM Science College and Parade Ground. The opening three days will see eight matches played at two venues in two sessions of morning and evening.
The State football championship is considered top football event of the State in which all the top teams of the State participate. It is the only event in which district teams participate alongside departmental teams.
“The event will kick off on Monday at Jammu and in it eight departmental teams, of JK Bank A and B, JK Police A and B, JK Forest, JKPDC-A and B, and Food Supplies. From Valley 10 districts and one private club Maharaja. From Jammu 12 private clubs and 10 districts of the club would be participating,” District Football Association President Srinagar, Fayaz Sofi said.
He said that it is for the first time in the history of JKFA that District Srinagar team would be participating in the State Championship.
