Petrol pump owner fined `10,000

Ganderbal, Dec 19: A joint enforcement team from Legal Metrology department conducted surprise inspection of petrol pumps and various commercial establishments of Ganderbal district and checked the delivery of dispensing units of petrol and diesel.
During the inspection, it was found that one petrol pump owner with connivance of his manager was giving every five litres of petrol or diesel short by 40ml to the customers, an official statement said.
The team imposed fine of Rs 10000 on the said petrol pump owner.
Moreover, one packer with brand name “Aqua Chinar” was found packing drinking mineral water without registration which is mandatory under packaged commodity rules. The offender has been booked and fined Rs 5000 for the offence.
During this drive, six other erring traders were also booked and fined for violation of various provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Standards of Weight and Measures Enforcement Act, 1997.
