Estimates Committee reviews Dal conservation
Srinagar, Dec 20: Committee on Estimates has stressed for immediate measures to ensure conservation of world famous Dal lake and proper rehabilitation of the affected dwellers.
The Committee which met under the chairmanship of MLA Handwara, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan reviewed measures being taken for the protection and conservation of Dal Lake.
Among others legislators Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Abdul Gani Veeri, Peer Afaq Ahmad besides Vice-Chairman LAWDA Irfan Yasin also attended the meeting.
On the occasion, threadbare discussions were held regarding the achievements and the measures being initiated for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers at Rakh-i-Arth.
MLA Hazratbal, Dr. Mustafa Kamal said Social Forestry and Housing and Urban Development departments should also be involved in the Dal Development process so that the displaced families be rehabilitated at an earliest.
MLA Khansahib, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen also emphasized for early rehabilitation of the Dal dwellers besides ensuring facilities to them.
He also recommended plantation under Haryali Scheme at proper places around Dal Lake besides, advocated for increase in financial assistance for construction of houses for Dal dwellers at the rehabilitated locations.
