PSC, Hr Edu deptt caught in a row
Intervention Of GAD Sought To End Deadlock
Validity Of Distance Mode Degrees
AKSHAY AZAD
Jammu, Dec 20: The Higher Education Department and Public Service Commission (PSC) are caught in a row with PSC repeatedly denying to admit the requisition for recruitments to various posts, till the issue of the validity of distance mode degrees is not resolved by the department.
After failing to come to terms with PSC, the Department has now approached the General Administration Department (GAD) with a request to intervene and resolve the deadlock.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that the PSC has refused to accept the requisitions by Higher Education department for recruitment since last many months, till it comes clear on the validity of the distance mode degrees. “The PSC authorities were not accepting any posts for recruitment on the pretext that first the Higher Education Department shall clarify its position on the validity of degrees,” sources said.
The Higher Education Department had issued a circular mentioning the details of the degrees recognized in J&K , but sources said the PSC continue to decline the recruitment requisitions for the last around seven months.
“The state government, through its order number 252 of General Administrative Department (GAD), dated May, 30, 2012, has already listed the degrees acceptable in J&K and circulated it to all departments and recruitment agencies, but they (PSC authorities) have still some confusion”, sources added.
During the last seven months, the PSC authorities, sources said, have returned 250 posts of lecturers sent by higher education. “Around two months back the Higher Education department sent 43 posts of Physical Education Teachers and 38 posts of librarians to PSC, but these were also returned on the same pretext,” sources said.
Owing to the adamant attitude of PSC authorities, the Higher Education Department has taken up the matter with GAD and sought its help to sort out the issue once and for all, sources added.
They said that due to the prevailing deadlock, recruitment to various posts has been delayed. “Several posts are vacant in various departments, while a lot of new posts have also been created which need immediate recruitment, but due to differences between Higher Education and PSC, thousands of aspiring candidates and the departments needing employees are left in lurch,” sources said.
