JK Bank Football Team

Srinagar, Dec 24: J&K Bank Sports Board is working on compiling a publication highlighting the role played by J&K Bank in promoting and nurturing sports, in particular the sport of football in the state.
As part of this policy and in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), J&K Bank has promoted sports culture by sponsoring various tournaments/ events in the sports category and has been actively on the back of sports bodies.
The game of football being one of the most popular sports has received special attention of the bank authorities.
J&K Bank football team has emerged as one among the top strong teams in the state having been winning trophies based on creation of a pool of highly talented and successful players during its active direct association with football.
Muhammad Amin Khan has been a pioneer in inculcating the interest among the bank employees, when, in 1986 he was instrumental in organizing an unofficial J&K Bank team which started playing in various matches.
Khan lead a group of officers who created interest in the top management in formally agreeing to constitute J&K Bank Football team.
This first team had the distinction to rope in services of a reputed international footballer Majid Kakroo. The first formal team also comprised other eminent/ talented players including Abdul Hamid Banday the present Vice Chairman of J&K Bank Sports Board.
Khan, given his deep interest, sustained efforts and a series of meetings with the top management was the push factor behind this historic birth of the team and he was deservingly appointed as first manager of the J&K bank football team.
He through his planning and organizing skills contributed in creating a platform for young and talented youth in 1990 and was successful in getting in the team the services of Veterans who had the background of having played for the top clubs of India.
His contribution in building the talent level and spirit in the team gradually succeeded in the success of J&K Bank football team in either winning the tournaments or achieving respectable position throughout the country. His contribution in promotion of sports all along resulted in creation of J&K Bank Sports Board in 2004 and expansion of sports arena of the Bank.
“As chairman of J&K Bank Sports Board, I have witnessed this ever- increasing interest and emotional attachment of Khan on sustained basis since early 2011 and it is dominantly because of his vision and its impact on the Sports Board that we could finally work on the new chapter and succeeded in getting a go ahead of the present Chairman J&K Bank Mushtaq Ahmad, when we launched a historic process of identifying young talent in the age band of 12-17 years in both Jammu and Srinagar,” said JK Bank Sports Board Chairman Taffazul Hussain said.
“Under his watchful eyes and supervisory techniques for over one year he has shown tremendous involvement in promoting the young talent and contributing in ensuring its first position in the recently held J&K Football Association “B” tournament which was the maiden participation of this young talent group, he said.
Taffazul said that Khan’s superb idea of creating two football academies based on adherence to national and international standards also received a big support and J&K Bank formally decided to have two football academies in the state, which will have the infrastructural facilities of a very high class, worthy of taking the initiative of J&K Bank in promoting and nurturing football right from the grass root level across the state.
“Khan’s contribution in promotion of sports particularly in the Bank is countless and even when he has reached to the superannuation stage, his emotional attachment and his clear commitment to keep a microscopic eye on the performance of both senior team, B teams as well as young talent pool will be a great source of success of the football within J&K Bank in particular and J&K state in general, Taffazul said.
“I also wish his successor Showkat Ahmad Khanyari an eminent footballer of the past, grand success in guiding this mission successfully” he added.
