Shopian protests against Delhi rape
Srinagar Dec 24: Hundred of people under the banner of Majlis-e-Mashawarat Shopian held a peaceful protest demonstrations in Shopian town on Monday against the recent Delhi gang rape.
Members of the Masharawat and locals took part in the procession by holding placards and raising slogans wherein they demanded stern action against rapists.
Spokesperson of Majlis-e-Masharawat Shafi Khan said, “Who other than the people of Shopian could feel the pain which the people of Delhi are feeling. Our demand at this time is that strict punishment should be awarded to these rapists, they should be immediately hanged. We fully support the protesters in Delhi speaking from where we used to speak in 2009 from Shopian. We still wait for the justice in the twin rape and murder of Aasiya and Neelofar that took place in Shopian in the year 2009”.
