Fog comes to JK’s rescue

Ranji Trophy-Day 4

Srinagar, Dec 25: Fog came to the rescue of hosts JK forcing match to draw, despite Himachal Pradesh fighting second innings batting display on the fourth day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match at GGM Science College ground Jammu on Tuesday.
Needing another 203 runs to win with full fourth day’s play left, Himachal Pradesh would have got shock of their seeing heavy Fog engulfing the Jammu city on Tuesday making visibility too poor for play to resume. The play could start only after lunch with full two hours of play lost. Still HP was having chance to win match and they started to score briskly taking score to 189 for the loss of only two wickets needing only 45 more runs to win match. However, bad light again stopped play and after tea interval no play was possible. Hence the match was draw and heartbreak for HP who needed only 45 runs to win with eight wickets in hand. For HP Karan Veer remained unbeaten on 88 while as PK Dogra was not out on 43 when play was stopped. HP earned three points from match by virtue of first wicket lead while as JK got only one. Earlier in its first inning JK were bundled out for 175 runs while as HP scored 189 runs in their first inning. JK in its second inning had scored 248.
