NREGA comes under Social Audit

Chadoora, Dec 25: In a significant move, government has decided to have social audit of all works being undertaken under MG NREGA twice a year.
In this connection first of its social audit was today conducted at Panchayat Halqa Buchroo in Chadoora Tehsil of district Budgam, an official statement said. Director, Social Audits MG NREGA, Dr. Abdul Gani Sofi presided.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Sofi said the said programme is aimed at to generate employment opportunities as well as building infrastructure at local level in rural areas. He said MG NREGA is a people friendly programme and needs to be done as per the wishes of local public.
The Director stressed upon officers and field functionaries of the Rural Development Department to ensure transparency and timely completion of works under MG NREGA so that the benefit percolates to the people as grass root level.
During the proceeding of the social audit, Dr. Sofi interacted with various deputations and individuals and ascertained feedback about different works from them.
Among others, the officers of Rural Development Department, Panchs and Sarpanchs were also present on the occasion.
