Major breakdown in Raj Bagh receiving station
Srinagar, Dec 26: Power supply to many posh areas including Raj Bagh, Wazir Bagh, Jawahar Nagar was snapped due to a major breakdown in Rajbagh receiving station.
Locals said power supply has been snapped to these areas since 2 am as some transformers in the receiving station have developed technical snag. This is the fourth time in a year that this power station has developed major defects. Earlier last year rats had eaten away some cables in the switch boards of the station.
“We are facing extreme hardships during severe winter conditions. The PDD has failed to undertake a thorough check up of the receiving station before the onset of winter in view of the problems faced earlier,” they said.
They said most of these defects have surfaced after inauguration of a receiving station at Jawahar Nagar. “At that time the people of Jawahar Nagar were told that they would get a better quality of power on uninterrupted basis as it is a fully metered area. However, the reverse has happened. In fact, Jawahar Nagar has not been put on this station but unmetered areas of Ikhrajpora and Mehjoor Nagar have been put on the same where there is always overloading,” they said.
