Incorporation of 73rd amendment

Udhampur, Dec 26: National Conference – Congress Coordination Committee is meeting soon to take a final decision over the proposal to incorporate certain amendments in state’s Panchayati Raj Act.
“Coordination Committee would be meeting shortly to discuss the suggestions of the Congress party for empowerment of Panchayats by incorporating necessary provisions of 73rd Amendment”, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz Wednesday said here today adding, “The proposed document in this regard has been finalized and a final decision would be taken up in the upcoming meeting.”
He said that once the “Congress demand” for incorporation of 73rd constitutional amendment is fulfilled the state government would be conducting the elections for Block Development Councils.
Addressing a function, in connection with first Death Anniversary of Yash Paul Khajuria-former minister and senior Congress leader, Soz said that all issues of public concern are being projected by his party at the appropriate level.
He said that Panchayat Raj System would be further strengthened so that it becomes an effective instrument of service to the people at the grass root level.
