PDP ENACTING DRAMA: NC
Srinagar, Dec 26: The ruling National Conference on Wednesday accused PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of enacting a drama on the shortage of basic amenities and termed her protest call as an attempt “to ignite sentiments of people on one pretext or the other.”
“The whole winter she (Mehbooba) is in Delhi enjoying her vacation and on and off issues statements from there. And then strangely for a day comes to Srinagar only to call for protest,” National Conference Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said in a statement.
“They (PDP) talk about youth victimization but the facts speak for itself. In their short tenure of three years, they have the ignominious distinction of using the PSA according to their whims by slapping this law on more than 1266 young students and youth,” Sadiq said.
“PDP cannot hoodwink the people of Srinagar. Their (PDP’s) obituary is being written and will be completed by 2014. Mehbooba and Mufti have lost their own constituencies and still talk about their existence, They have no moral right to stick to their seats of Wachi and Anantnag after being routed in South Kashmir in the recent LC polls. They should immediately resign,” he said.
Sadiq said when PDP was in power, its leaders had every opportunity to ensure development of Srinagar City. “Instead they chose to just pay lip service at that time. Now that the Omar Abdullah administration is actually practicing the doctrine of ‘actions speak louder than words,’ the PDP is sadly assuming the role of a disruptor,” he said.
“People still have memories afresh in their minds how PDP had almost shifted the secretariat from Srinagar, stalled the urban reform bill to ensure the GOI does not release the funds. PDP is a spent force trying to test the water of Srinagar. They will face the same humiliation in Srinagar as they got in Wachi and Anantnag,” he said.
