SMC seizes polythene in markets
Srinagar, Dec 27: The Anti-Polythene Squad of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation seized over one quintal polythene from different areas of the city including Dalgate, Lal Chowk and Harisingh High Street.
In a statement the SMC spokesperson said the drive was carried out under the supervision of Anti Polythene Officer Mir Mansoor with the full assistance of District Police lines.
Around eleven prosecutions were launched against the offenders and Rs 1200 was recovered as fine.
Meanwhile Commissioner SMC Dr Qasba has issued instructions to the concerned ward officers to continue with the anti-polythene drive vigorously.
