Govt has made agri sector one of focused areas: Rana


Jammu, Dec 28: Chief Minister’s political advisor, Devender Singh Rana today said the government has made agriculture as one of the focused areas in the development policy of the state.
 Speaking after inaugurating an agriculture mela at Agore in Nagrota constituency, Rana said that modern farming techniques are being encouraged in the fields and farmers are being trained and educated to introduce new farm techniques for raising production and productivity.
 He said that various farmers’ training camps, agriculture melas and exhibitions are being organized to educate farming community about the modern agricultural practices.
 Terming scientific methods of cultivation as imperative for all round development of agriculture, Rana emphasized for transfer of technology from lab to land, asking agriculturists to adopt new techniques and utilize balanced dozes of fertilizers to realize enhanced production.
 Rana said the technology of cultivation of vegetables, floriculture and cash crops under ‘Poly Green House’ technology has greater potential in the state.
 He, according to an official statement, told the farmers to take advantage of the schemes under implementation in the state for poly green houses.
 He asked the departmental experts to make farmers fully aware of the advantages of poly green houses and various schemes launched by the state coalition government for the development of agriculture and agriculturists.
 Earlier the Political Advisor also laid foundation stone of Community Hall at Agore for which he provided Rs 10 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund.
