Fayaz elected Prez, Labroo is Secretary


Srinagar, Dec 2: The elections of the District Football Association (DFA) Srinagar were held at Polo Ground here on Sunday.
 The elections were held for three posts of DFA Srinagar and in it out of total 62 associate members 46 were present while as from out of ten direct members eight were present. In total 54 voters participated in the elections.
 Kashmir wing Treasurer of J&K Football Association (JKFA) and known figure in JK Football circles Fayaz Ahmad Sofi was elected as President while as former national level footballer Muhammad Yousuf Labroo was elected as secretary. Tariq Madni was elected as Treasurer. All the three office bearers were elected unopposed. The former JKFA President NA Khan was the returning officer for the elections.
 Fayaz said, “I have been working for the development of JK football at grassroot level for many years. Now with this post and the responsibility attached with I will have to work even harder”.
 “Football is number one sports of the State and it should get all the attention and facilities from the Government that are needed for the game,” he added.
 Muhammad Yousuf Labroo, who is well known former national level footballer of State, said it was now his turn to give something back to the game that has given lot of fame and respect.
 “Football has given me lot of things and it is now my turn to give it something back. I continue to play football with youngsters and it gives me internal satisfaction. With this post which I consider as an honour I will get opportunity work for its development on official lines”.
 “I have lot of plans in mind for the development and promotion of the game among youngsters. With the responsibility of secretary I will be able to mature them into reality now. I thank all those who voted for me and thought me worth holding on to this post,” he added.
 Meanwhile elections of DFA Budgam were held at Chattergam on November 30 in which 36 associate members of the association participated. Khurshid Ahmad Wani was elected President while Showkat Hussain was elected as Secretary. Showkat Ahmad Lone was elected as Treasurer.
