PDD endangers Raithan inhabitants
Fails to replace decayed poles
Raithan: Failure of the authorities to replace decayed electricity poles at Raithan and its adjoining areas has put the lives of inhabitants at risk.
The decayed poles carrying high and low transmission lines are located close to many houses here.
“These poles have been installed decades ago. Many casualties have taken place in past some years due to bad condition of poles and transmission lines. Despite our repeated pleas, the Power Development Department has failed to replace them,” the locals said.
The inhabitants live under constant fear due to decayed poles and low-lying overhead transmission lines.
“These decayed poles can collapse anytime and cause loss of lives and property. At some places the transmission lines are tied with tree branches. The PDD has failed undertake even minor repairs,” said Ghulam Hassan Kumar a local.
The inhabitants of Raithan, Gurwaith, Mujpathri, Watred Dalbal and Kachwari have demanded immediate replacement of damaged and decayed wooden poles with concrete poles to prevent any mishap.
