Police constable kills wife, mother-in-law
Doda, Dec 2: A police constable, deployed on election duty, attempted suicide after killing his wife and mother-in-law and injuring his father-in-law in a remote area of this mountainous district, on Sunday evening.
Reports reaching here revealed that the constable had some dispute with his wife and in-laws, over some time, and today he barged into the house alongwith official weapon and fired indiscriminately on the inmates.
Giving details, a police officer told Greater Kashmir that the constable, Pawan Kumar son of Gandarb Singh of Bonjwa Bhaderwah, was deputed on election duty to Bhallessa. "Today he took his official weapon and went to Kandola village of Gandoh Sub Division, where his in-laws were living", he said.
Quoting preliminary reports, police said after some alteration the cop opened indiscriminate fire killing his wife, Haima Devi and mother-in-law Samitra Devi, on the spot and critically injuring his father in law Des Raj.
They said that the assailants also fired upon himself in an attempt to end his life. "He was critically injured and is struggling for his life", officials said adding, "The constable and his father-in-law have been shifted to Gandoh hospital, where their condition was stated to be critical".
