GOVT FINALIZES BUILDING PLAN FOR MOTHER & CHILDCARE HOSPITALS

HSCC to oversee upcoming Health institutions: Dwivedi

Srinagar, Dec 29: Government on Saturday finalized building plan for Mother and Childcare hospitals at Bemina here and said that work the ambitions project would be monitored by the Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation (HSCC).
The building plan for these hospitals was finalized at a meeting of officers and engineers held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi.
Officials said the two hospitals will be constructed over 60 kanals of land at Bemina here. While the maternity hospital will be funded by central government, the children hospital will be financed by the State government.
The Maternity hospital will be constructed at an approved outlay of Rs. 50 crore while as the Children hospital will cost about Rs. 60 crore respectively. Both these hospitals will be inter-connected and have several common facilities for the convenience of the patients, officials said.
The design and other parameters of the proposed hospitals were discussed at length and experts of HSCC suggested some modifications, which were incorporated in the plan. The meeting gave its nod to start the work on these two projects immediately.
On the occasion, Dwivedi urged the experts to closely monitor the work on these projects on regular basis to ensure judicious use of funds and quality standards. “HSCC will be involved in all future health projects to ensure building of quality infrastructure.
Construction of these new health institutions was need of the hour to provide adequate medicare facilities to the mothers and new born children,” Dwivedi said.
“Keeping in view this urgency, the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had announced setting up of a maternity as well as pediatric hospital in Srinagar. The government subsequently started working on the project on the land identified at Bemina Bye Pass. The soil testing and ground work has already been completed for these projects.
These hospitals will cater to the healthcare needs of mothers and children exclusively,” he added.
The Roads and Buildings department which is the executing agency, has been given the target to complete the hospitals within two years.
