CT deptt sleuths foil tax evading attempt

Jammu, Dec 30: Sleuths of Commercial Taxes Department have foiled an attempt to evade entry tax by a “newly built bus body belonging to M/S R K Gupta and Company during the night hours of December 29.”
In the statement here today, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, said that the vehicle was signalled to stop at Commercial Taxes Check Post Lakhanpur for payment of entry tax on newly fabricated bus body, but it did not stop and escaped the barrier.
The Executive staff of the Commercial taxes check post chased the bus despite foggy conditions and intercepted it near Kali Bari, Kathua and over powered the erring driver, it said.
An entry tax of Rs. 57,300 was realized on the spot from the defaulter. GKNN

Srinagar, Dec 30: Department of Agriculture in collaboration with J&K Bank organized a number of Kissan Credit Card awareness programmes at various Punchayat Halqas namely Peth Muqam Beerwah, Iskanderpora Khag in Budgam, and Harwan Srinagar.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Budgam M A Parray at one of the camp said that 100 per cent farm operating families will be brought under Kissan Credit Card Scheme.
He directed officers/officials of the department to coordinate with Bank & Revenue authorities for successful implementation of the scheme on the ground.
In the camps 300 Kissan Credit Cards were distributed among the farmers, which involved an advance of Rs.45 lakh. During the camp at Harwan, Chief Agriculture Officer, Srinagar G M Rather said that all farm operating families will be brought under Kissan Credit Card Scheme & farmers were educated about the implementation of the scheme.
On the conclusion 120 Kissan Credit Cards were distributed among the farmers, which involved an advance of Rs. 45 lakh.
A large number of farmers participated in the camps.
