Sericulture Deptt holds awareness camp for farmers

Bandipora, Dec 30: Sericulture Department organized an awareness camp for farmers at Ayhtmulla here in north Kashmir.
About 100 farmers from Mantriga,Pazalpoa,Lehrwalpora,Aloosa,Sonarwan and adjoining villages  participated in the programme.
The programme, according to the officials, was organized to make the farmers aware about different schemes being implemented by Sericulture Department for their benefits.
MLA Bandipora Nizamudin Bhat, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion distributed cheques among the farmers. Bhat lauded the efforts to of the department and urged farmers to take more and more benefits from the schemes.
“Sericulture is big economic venture. Farmers should come forward to know the schemes,” the MLA said.
Director Sericulture Dr Farooq Malik briefed the farmers about various benefits being extended to farmers under plantation schemes of the department.
He explained in details the procedure of silkworm rearing by farmers to get more and more benefits out of it and bi-products of Sericulture.
