Not justified
This has been the practice in our state to award people for doing nothing. They are being rewarded on the basis of their link to political high ups or bureaucrats or some other agency. Recently India Today wrote about the health care quality in the state on the basis of indexes provided by the government agencies, which surly are baseless. When one looks at the ground realities, the fact is different. We don't have health centres with sufficient employees posted there. Most of the posts are vacant. Again there is dearth of specialists. Reportedly there are only two Gynaecologists working id district Kupwara and not to talk about Kargil etc. GB Pant is a case in point where so many neonatal deaths have occurred. One wonders how is the award justified in such a pathetic health scenario.
