Shortage of essential commodities

Greater Kashmir received scores of phone calls from the residents of areas under curfew that they were facing shortage of essentials including baby food and medicines.
 “We were not allowed to purchase bread in the morning. Security personnel ran after us and told us not to venture out of our houses till restrictions are in place,” Irshad Ahmad, a resident of old City said.
 “Even they are not allowing patients to move out. There are many patients who have run out of medicines. But security personnel are not allowing us to even get medicines,” the residents said adding “There is also shortage of baby food items as many families have run short of it.”
 Besides, according to the locals, milkmen and vegetable vendors from other parts of the City are also not allowed to go into the curfew bound areas.
