Soz upbeat over record polling

Srinagar, Dec 4: State Congress Chief Prof Saifudin Soz Tuesday welcomed the huge participation of Sarpanchs and Panchs in the recently held elections for the four Legislative Council seats.
In a statement here, Soz said: “It is heartening situation that Sarpanchs and Panchs have participated in the election of four candidates in unprecedented manner.” The Sarpanchs and Panchs, Soz said, deserve heartfelt greetings for their success in showing their solidarity for a noble cause of strengthening the Panchayat system. “The 93 per cent participation of Sarpanchs and Panchs in a free and fair election for the four seats in the Legislative Council must be a record in India and for the people of the JK it is a moment to feel proud,” Soz said. “I reiterate the commitment of the State unit of Congress to take measures to empower Panchayat system at all levels and ensure grant of honorarium to Sarpanchs and Panchs with insurance cover.”
