25th Farm Machinery Mela Held
Baramulla, Dec 5: To make agriculture machinery and farm tools available to the farmers at their doorsteps, Department of Agriculture is organizing Farm Machinery Melas throughout the Valley. In this connection it held 25th Farm Machinery Mela at Kreeri, here today. On the occasion Director Law Enforcement J&K M S Katoo appreciated the role of farmers in the uplift of agriculture and allied sectors. He asked the farmers to participate in Melas and Awareness Camps organizing by the department to kept themselves abreast with the latest technology and farm machinery, an official statement said.
He said: “If we concentrate on harnessing the potential of available land we can give considerable fillip to our economy.” Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad said that farm mechanization in agriculture sector is pivotal to maximize yields as the fallow lands can also be brought under cultivation.
He impressed upon farmers to adopt latest modern technology & mechanization in agriculture sector to bring down the cost of labour component and yield good results in cultivation. He advised the farmers to coordinate with agriculture department for successful implementation farmer friendly schemes, and avail benefits from these schemes. GKNN
