Knight Science Journalism Fellowships at MIT USA
Knight Science Journalism Fellowships are for mid-career journalists from all countries.
Qualifications
Applicants must be full-time journalists, whether they are on staff or freelance. Applicants must have at least three full years of experience covering science, technology, the environment, or medicine; or at least five years of other journalism experience and a desire to cover those areas in the future.
Applicants may be reporters, writers, editors, producers, illustrators or photo-journalists. They may work for newspapers, magazines, television, radio or the Web.
Professionals working in public information, public relations, the trade press, government or academia are not eligible.

Nieman fellowships at Harvard
Fellows will participate in Harvard courses, weekly seminars and writing and multimedia workshops.
The international fellowships program is for citizens of nations other than the United States, including non-U.S. citizens working at media organizations in the United States. English fluency is required.
Applicants must submit a personal statement, study proposal, work samples, recommendation letters and a letter of support from a current employer.

Fellowships open for freelance journalists
The University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs invites specialized freelancers to apply for one of 15 Fellowships in Global Journalism. The university is seeking top individuals with advanced knowledge of a specialty, who wish to cover that specialty as full-time or part-time reporters for media around the world.
Fellows will spend September 2013 to April 2014 reporting on their respective beats as stringers for major media around the world, while being mentored by leading journalists. Participants will learn editorial disciplines and freelance tradecraft to become full-time specialty reporters.
Curriculum topics include broadcast and mobile journalism, investigative journalism, global dynamics and new media platforms. Fellows will also participate in a one-month bootcamp that will aid in the transition from freelancing to full-time reporting.
The application deadline is February 11, 2013.
