UJC snubs JK police chief

Salah-Ud-Din Won’t Wait For A Minute To Return If Need Arises’

‘Srinagar, Dec 6: The United Jehad Council Thursday took the J&K’s Director General of Police Ashok Prasad head on, saying its chief Syed Salah-ud-Din “won’t wait for a minute to return to the Valley if the need arises.” The UJC snub comes barely two days after Prasad dared Salah-ud-Din of “issuing threats to Panchs and Sarpanchs from Kashmir.”
In a statement issued here, the UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain advised Prasad to “take a cue from the experience of his colleague, former IG CRPF NC Asthana, who had advised the Government of India that Kashmir struggle can’t be crushed through elections and force.”
Hussain described the DGP’s statement wherein he had challenged Salah-ud-din to issue threats to Sarpanchs and Panchs from this part of Kashmir as a “mere joke.” “The UJC chief is following the policies being adopted by the militant leadership. If situation demands, he will not wait for a minute to return to this part of Kashmir. For that, he doesn’t need the advice of a Government of India official,” the UJC spokesman said.
He said Salah-ud-Din’s statement on Sarpanchs and Panchs was “misquoted by a section of press.” “The crux of the UJC chief’s statement was that the Indian politicians are using Sarpanchs and Panchs for their petty political interests to befool the world community,” he said. “Given this, the Sarpanchs, Panchs should have resigned on moral grounds.”
Hussain said that Salah-ud-Din had made it clear that Sarpanchs and Panchs could become target of anybody and no security would save them. “There was no need to kill Sarpanchs and Panchs as they would themselves die for betraying the nation,” he said.
The UJC spokesman said despite repeated requests from the militant and Hurriyat leadership to Sarpanchs and Panchs to stay away from polls, the Panchayat representatives “betrayed the aspirations of people of Kashmir.” “The Panchayat representatives while taking part in the legislative council elections have played a role of enemy and provided impetus to the false propaganda of New Delhi,” Hussain said. He said “militants are committed to take the freedom struggle to its logical conclusion and the process is on. We will not allow the mission of martyrs to go waste.”
