Inordinate delay hits widening of vital road
Islamabad: Inordinate delay in widening of the Donipawa-Sherpora-Janglat Mandi road is causing immense inconvenience to the commuters.
Locals said the widening of the two kilometer stretch is part of the Kishtiwar-Sinthan- Islamabad project. However, the locals claim that the widening of the stretch from Donipwa to Janglat Mandi has been shelved.
They said the narrow road stretch witnesses heavy traffic jams and makes movement of pedestrians difficult. “Widening of the stretch can minimize the chances of accidents and facilitate smooth flow of traffic,” they said.
“We have been demanding widening of the road from past two years. Ironically the authorities are resorting to dilly-dallying tactics,” said Muzaffar Ahmad of Sherpora.
The locals said the road leads to Kokernag ,Shangus and other tourist spots in Islamabad and district hospital. “The authorities must start widening of the road on priority owing to its importance. We also demand proper rehabilitation to the people who shops and houses come under the road widening,” the residents said appealing the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad to look into the matter.
