CPI(M) favours wider consultation on Police Act in JK

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Jammu, Jan 31: Batting strongly for police reforms in Jammu and Kashmir, CPI(M) today urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to put the draft Police Act on government website inviting feedback from public.
"I would urge the Chief Minister that the draft be placed on the government and police website inviting comments and feedback which then can be incorporated into the draft as seen necessary," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said in a letter to Omar.
While consultations will require time, they will create a great deal of goodwill for the police which is very important for our future, Tarigami, who is also Kulgam MLA, said.
