Fire at SBI branch, Bemina house gutted
Srinagar, Feb 9: A house was gutted in Bemina area while fire also broke out in the State Bank of India branch Residency Road in the City, police and reports Thursday said.
A residential house belonging to Muhammad Farooq Malik son of Abdul Rehman was partially gutted in an accidental fire at Sir Syedabad, Bemina, here last night.
Shortcircuit is believed to have caused the fire, gutting completely the top storey along with roof of the building. It was due to untiring efforts of the fire tenders and locals that the fire was doused.
Muhammad Farooq’s brother Muhammad Ashraf Malik along with his family is also putting up in the house. The property worth Rs 30 Lakh, according family members, was gutted in the fire.
About the SBI branch incident police said: “It was brought under control by firefighters. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.”
“However, some equipments of signal centre of 132 Bn CRPF located in the bank premises was damaged. Cause of fire is being ascertained,” it added.
