Help poor:Mir asks civil society
Jammu, Feb 13: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today called upon the civil society of the State to come forward for helping needy and poor section of the society.
The Minister was addressing at a function organized by J&K State Samaj Sudhar Committee (JKSSSC) in connection with distribution of sewing machines and blankets amongst poor and needy people at Press Club Jammu.
“It is our moral obligation to extend helping hand to the weaker section of the society so that they can live honorable life. The social organizations play a greater role to redress their genuine issues of their day to day life. Our motto should be to spend some amount from our savings for the weaker section of the society to fulfill their day to day needs,” Mir said.
Mir stressed for establishment of such social organization at the Mohalla village level to identify and provide help to the needy people. He said that Government is also providing financial assistance to the poor, widows, orphans, handicapped and other weaker section of the society under various state and centrally sponsored schemes through social welfare department.
Earlier the Minister distributed sewing machines and blankets among needy people on the occasion.
