Visitors, staff complain of misbehaviour by B&J Hospital security

GK CITY REPORTER

Srinagar, Feb 15: Since the day government replaced the private security with Special Police Officers at Bones and Joint Hospital, Barzulla, a few months ago, the SPOs have often been accused of brawls with the visitors and staff there.
At least four such complaints have popped up in the last two days alone. The complainants said an attendant was beaten Tuesday by the security people following an altercation between the two over the issue of entry into the hospital.
Witnesses said when one of the hospital staffers came to the rescue of the attendant, he too was allegedly thrashed.
On Wednesday again atleast two such incidents were reported from the hospital while the visitors and hospital staffers accused the cops of misbehaviour.
When contacted the Medical Superintendent Dr MS Badoo said the complaints had come to his notice. Even though he admitted that the cops weren’t well versed with tackling visitors at the hospital, the medico said some staffers were fuelling the issue and taking it to media.
“Such people happened to be habitual of coming late but now as their movement is under check they want to bring an end to the restrictions by trying to defame the cops on duty,” the Medical Superintendent said.
He however said that the administration was trying its best to maintain harmony between the staffers and the security people.
