Khanyar Police Station attacked
Srinagar, Feb 16: Unknown persons hurled a grenade at Khanyar police station in old city here on Thursday evening, police said.
Talking to Greater Kashmir Superintendent of Police North, Showkat Shah said, “The device was hurled towards the police station but it exploded with a bang near the gate. However, no one was injured in the attack.”
This is the first attack on police in Srinagar city this year.
Pertinently, in December last year unidentified gunmen had made an abortive bid on the life of Minister for Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Sagar at Nawab Bazaar in old city here. Although Sagar escaped unhurt in the attack but one of his body guards was killed and three others were injured.
