2 die in highway accident

RAMBAN, Feb 17: Two persons died and two soldiers’ sustained injuries when a truck they were traveling in plunged into Bislari Nullah near Pantihal on Srinagar-Jammu highway, on Friday.
Official sources said the ill-fated truck (JK09-2025) on way from Jammu to Srinagar was carrying supply for army canteen. The truck driver Sajad Ahmed son of Ghulam Rasool of Handwara survived by jumping out while his conductor Ramzan son of Muhammad Akbar Malik of Darsu Handwara and his associate Sajad son of Muhammad Abdullah of Handwara died on the spot. Two soldiers, identified as Naib Subedar AK Jawdan and Signal Man GE Roy, were wounded in the accident. The duo was airlifted to Command Hospital Udhampur for treatment.
Pertinently, brother of Muhammad Ramzan also died on highway last year in a similar kind of accident.
Meanwhile, MLA Langate Er Rashid has expressed sympathies with the families of bereaved youth.
“After hearing the unfortunate news, I myself went to Ramban to recover the bodies of the deceased,” he said.
