Burglars on prowl; police in slumber

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Feb 19: There has been no let up in theft complaints from Rawal Pora and adjoining areas of south City falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Budgam while the cops seem to be allegedly sleeping over the issue.
The residents of Wanabal Rawalpora said burglars keep prowling in the area and have targeted many houses and shops in the past few months adding that for now the thefts were being prevented only by the vigilant locals who try to stay awake at night.
The owner of Al Madina store at Rawal Pora said his shop has been targeted at-least twice in the past few weeks.
He said the latest theft attempt had been avoided by the timely action of vigilant locals who chased away the burglars.
Similar complaints poured in from adjoining Alamdar Colony, Sir Syed Avenue and Baghwan Pora in the vicinity.
When contacted a police official said the issue was being looked into. For the past few months the locals have been repeatedly appealing the Budgam police chief SSP Uttam Chand to personally look into the matter. Despite repeated attempts, the SSP couldn’t be contacted for comments.
